Created by Dean Hargrove, Joel Steiger and Ann Doherty, the series ran on CBS for five seasons from September 26, 1987, to May 6, 1992.

A woman whose father is a good friend of McCabe's is nearly killed by her husband. But she refuses to believe he did it. So while she recuperates in a hospital, McCabe has Jake pose as a relative who comes and stays at her house. And Jake tries to prove his complicity.
In Hawaii JL returns to help Joe and finds himself the PA (Prosecuting Attorney) with both Jake & Derek joining him. We also learn about JL’s son Daniel in the 5th episode of the short 2nd season which started after a long writers strike.
