Apr 19, 2024 · Franklin Delano Roosevelt, also referred to as FDR, was the 32nd president of the United States and the only president elected to the office four times, serving from 1933 until his death in 1945. Roosevelt led the United States through two of the greatest crises of the 20th century: the Great Depression and World War II.
- FDR had a half-brother. He was the only child of Sara Delano and James Roosevelt, but he was not, however, his father's only child. James did have a much older son, also named James, from his first marriage to Rebecca Brien Howland.
