A gritty urban crime show, but with a difference. Each week the action is bisected neatly into two halves, so that the audience gets two genres for the price of one. During the first segment, tough but compassionate cops go after a criminal, usually a murderer, and place him or her in detention.
A heroin-addicted nightclub comic is arrested on a drug-related homicide, and at his trial he intends to challenge the state's anti-narcotic laws.
