This kind of thing or that kind of thing is made plural with the phrases these kinds of things or those kinds of things, but the singular versions are much more commonly used.
"Those Kinds of Things" is the first episode of the sixth season of Showtime TV series Dexter. It was aired on October 2, 2011 and attracted 2.19 million viewers in the US.
As @Jason Bassford says, the simple answer is that 'these kind of' is going to be considered wrong in any context which isn't quoting somebody else's speech. So, for all intents and purposes, your grammar checking service is right. 'These' is plural, so 'kinds of projects' all needs to plural too.
