Last Resort is an American military drama television series that aired on ABC from September 27, 2012, to January 24, 2013. [1] The series was created by Shawn Ryan and Karl Gajdusek, and produced by Sony Pictures Television.
Last Resort. Season 1. Captain Marcus Chaplin (Andre Braugher) demands confirmation of the orders only to be unceremoniously relieved of duty by the White House. XO Sam Kendal (Scott Speedman) finds himself suddenly in charge of the submarine and facing the same difficult decision.
A fleet of U.S. warships approaches the 200 mile perimeter Capt. Chaplin has declared but he also activates the prototype Perseus system which makes the sub virtually invisible. On the island, about one-quarter of the crew are refusing to report for duty. But that isn't their only problem.
500 feet beneath the ocean's surface, the U.S. ballistic missile submarine Colorado receive their orders. Over a radio channel, designed only to be used if their homeland has been wiped out, they're told to fire nuclear weapons at Pakistan.
