Sex and the City is an American romantic comedy-drama television series created by Darren Star for HBO. An adaptation of Candace Bushnell 's newspaper column and 1996 book anthology of the same name, the series premiered in the United States on June 6, 1998. They concluded on February 22, 2004, with 94 episodes broadcast over six seasons.

- Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker. Long before she landed what would become her signature role on the hit HBO series, Parker made her Broadway debut at age 11 in the 1976 revival of The Innocents and then starred in the title role of the Broadway musical Annie in 1979.
- Samantha Jones, played by Kim Cattrall. When Cattrall signed up to co-star in the series, she had already played Kurt Russell’s flame in the action film Big Trouble in Little China and the lead role in Mannequin.
