Chapter 2: The Silver Doe is the second episode in the FX miniseries, A Murder at the End of the World. The episode aired on November 14, 2023.

Darby believes the death she witnessed may, in fact, be murder, but no one believes her. The grief and shock of the events thrust her into remembering her own buried past.

Darby returns indoors to seek assistance from Marius, the hotel manager, and Sian, a doctor. Despite Sian's CPR efforts, Bill remains unresponsive and is subsequently declared deceased. Sian suspects morphine as a potential cause of death.

The following morning, Andy officially announces Bill's passing. Convinced that Bill's demise wasn't due to an overdose, Darby ventures into his room for an investigation. With Ray's help, she scrutinizes Bill's body and discovers no signs of self-injection, and there are no fingerprints on the syringe. Lee enters the room, surprising Darby and prompting her to conceal herself while Lee examines Bill's body and belongings. They both exit the room separately.

Later, Darby confides in Lee about her findings, suspecting foul play among the retreat attendees. Lee encourages Darby to hack into the hotel's security system for a review of the camera footage. Darby identifies David and Ziba on the footage, along with an enigmatic masked figure. She witnesses Icelandic authorities taking custody of Bill's body.

In a series of flashbacks, a younger Darby frequently accompanies her father, a coroner, to crime scenes. On one occasion, bone remains are discovered, and Darby finds a pair of silver earrings, which she takes home. While researching the earrings online, Darby connects with Bill, who shares her interests. The two eventually meet for the first time at a bar.
