This car was an instant purchase for Frank Fritz. He found the car in California and knew he had to have it. Who can blame him? Late-50s Bel-Airs are staple classic cars: extremely popular in their day, beloved by generations of car fans, and parts are easy to find. He paid just under $22,000 for the car and estimated its value at close to $27,000.

This car was the reason for a failed trip abroad for the American Pickers crew. Mike and Frank flew to Italy to negotiate a deal for the Mille Miglia-veteran coupe but were eventually turned down by the owner of the car who decided not to sell it. A shame, since a nice example of one recently sold at auction for around $460,000.

This Cord is a glamorous American luxury car from the pre-war era. It is also loaded with clever engineering, like a pre-select manual gearbox and one of the first uses of front-wheel drive in an American car. Clean Cords are very valuable: the owner of this one wanted $150,000 for it. The crew had to walk away from the deal. RELATED: 20 Barn Finds...

This big Caddy is one of the most instantly recognizable American cars of all-time. Acres of chrome and steel make it an impressive and imposing machine, with undeniable road presence and character. They’re now reasonably-priced too, valued around $15,000. The Pickerscrew were able to get this big cruiser for under $10,000.

While it may not be as well-remembered as the iconic Mustang, the Fairlane GT 390 was certainly no lazy stablemate, outputting 335 horsepower from its big-block 390 cubic inch V8. This Fairlane was a bargain for the crew, costing them $7,000. Despite extra repair costs, they were able to turn a profit of a few thousand dollars.

Like the Bel-Air listed above, this car was a personal purchase for one of the crew. This time, Mike Wolfe found the car in California and knew he had to have it. The car proved to be a curious case. It had a modified front end, a front grille from a 1934 Ford and more rust than he had bargained for. He paid $16,000 for his pre-war project car.

The BMW Isetta, or the bubble car, was one of many post-World War II microcars built in Europe. The continent was short on resources and most people could only afford little cars like this Isetta since normal cars were too expensive. Still, this one cost the Pickerscrew $13,000, though they estimated it to be worth a few thousand more than that. RE...

This Ford Bronco discovered by the American Pickerscrew was one of the cleanest and most original cars they ever came across. It had less than 30,000 miles on the clock and came with the factory hardtop and doors. These early Broncos are valued at around $36,000, and the crew were able to pick this one up for a few grand less.

Every vehicle discovered by the American Pickerscrew is a unique piece of machinery, and this bright orange beast is no exception. The modified Dodge van oozes power with its huge rear tires and chopped roof. The crew picked it up for $12,500, and some hot rod fanatics out there would surely pay more than that to own something like this. RELATED: 1...

In pristine condition, a pre-war Auburn Phaeton is a gorgeous car. Its size and elegance were exactly what the rich and famous wanted in the mid-30s. Now, with 80-plus years of decay, this Auburn still has a presence unlike most cars today. The crew picked it up for $27,500 but were able to push its value close to $45,000 with restoration.
