    Warning: full spoilers follow.

Little by little, we’ve seen the Firestorm subplot become more of a focus on this show. That was a bit of a problem in December’s mid-season finale, where it seemed like the Firestorm material was getting in the way of the more urgent Flash vs. Reverse Flash conflict. But now, as the show goes through a transitional period and begins setting up a foundation for the final months of Season 1, this material fits in more naturally. “Crazy For You” offered plenty of progress on the Firestorm front, plus a lot of other great material that combined to form an all-around entertaining installment.

This week’s storyline built directly from last week’s showdown with Hartley Rathaway, as the genius villain set about trying to wriggle his way out of his cell by tempting Cisco with information about Ronnie Raymond. Right away, I was pleased to see this episode make up for last week’s shortcomings by allowing Andy Mientus to flex his muscles a bit more. Rather than coming across as intense and angry the whole time, Hartley was allowed to play the scheming manipulator. He was Hannibal-esque in a way, though he clearly found Cisco a tougher opponent than he bargained for initially.

Really, it was the Cisco part of the equation that made this subplot stand out. It was great to see the character take a more prominent role for a change. He even got a fight scene all his own (and comported himself pretty well, as it turned out). While we got more tidbits on the current status of Dr. Stein and Ronnie Raymond, I’d argue the most significant development on this front was Cisco displaying the first hint of his transformation into Vibe. We saw him rig Hartley’s apparatus into a vibrational weapon. All he needs now is a colorful jacket and sunglasses and he’ll be good to go.

"Crazy For You" was a well-balanced and all-around entertaining installment of the show. We saw plenty of momentum on the Firestorm front and a solid new villain in the form of Peek-a-Boo. We also saw Cisco get the chance to play the action hero for a few minutes. On the flip side, there was some great relationship drama and comedy at work this wee...
