A woman is outside for a late night jog, a dog chasing after her. Suddenly, time stops. Inside a house across the street, a man descends from a beam of light back inside. This is Mayor Ben Hawthorne, being returned from another abduction by the Greys. It does not go quite smoothly, but he is not disturbed. That morning, Kate wakes up to find Ben next to her. She asks him how he slept and he tells her it was great, though he did roll off the bed again. She tells him it's better than sleepwalking and ending up outside. He says it's freezing this morning. She asks how he knows that. He tells her he doesn't know. One week later, Harry wakes up in the morning. He puts on a suit, drinks some coffee and heads out to work. He is now working at General McCallister's secret underground alien research base. Scarfing down pizza, he takes an express train to a Montana underground facility. He narrates on how on his planet, he was alone, though when he hatched, he was greeted by the mewling of hundreds of siblings. They all preferred solitude and killed each other, but it is different on Earth. In the office, a man brings him a folder. Staring at the papers inside, he tells him that it is garbage and to go back to his desk. He suggests he take a break, that he'll do it, thinking to himself that if these are the Earth's top thinkers, everyone's dead. General McCallister complains that output has crawled to a stop, that he keeps taking everyone's jobs. She and one of her subordinates point out that they still don't know why the Greys are there. Harry tells them that last week, he saved everyone. A flashback shows that his idea of saving everyone was accidentally activating an alien weapon and only narrowly stopping it by pounding on it. McCallister tells him that he needs to fall in line, that he's part of a team. The subordinate mouths something unkind at him. Meanwhile, back in Patience, Asta arrives home and wakes up D'arcy. She compliments her on making her coffee and D'arcy tells her that she's building up goodwill, that she's on a late shift next week. Asta gets the paper, which features an unflattering story about D'arcy ditching the skiing tournament. She pleads with D'arcy not to look at it, but D'arcy acts like she's not bothered. She tells Asta that thinking she was losing her threw her, but that she's different now. Asta says that she's proud. She warns her, however, that she's going to lock her door if she keeps coming home at 4 A.M.

Sheriff Mike Thompson is with Detective Lena Torres at Joe's Diner. She suggests he meet her son. She pays the bill for the meal and tells him she's off to work, kissing him. She greets Deputy Liv on the way out. Mike complains to Liv about Lena having paid and Liv sarcastically agrees that he should be "so angry." She asks just why he should be angry and he tells her it's not the natural order of things, that men pay and women eat. He says it goes back to caveman times. Liv calls it 200 million years of misinformation and shows him a CCTV still. He tells her not there, that there are cameras everywhere. He says they'll look at later, but she says she doesn't want to, that she just wants to check the van for fingerprints. He tells her that there's no way, that whoever's watching them is well-funded and has drones everywhere, indicating a mustard stain on the window. He tells her to trust no one. At the sheriff's office, the grey-human hybrid Joseph Rainier sips coffee. A woman named Val hands him a bag, telling him that someone found it near a bus stop. He opens it and extracts a set of clothes and a notebook, containing handwritten notes that appear to have been written by Robert Hutchins, the son of the Alien Tracker Peter Bach. Just then, Mike and Liv arrive. Mike asks what he has and he tells him that he'll go through and see who it belongs to. Mike takes the notebook, telling him he's not there to do clerical work and that Deputy Liv will process it. Mike tells him that he has a gut feeling something's going down and to keep an eye out for anything suspicious. Joseph agrees that if anyone's up to something, he'll know it. At the Patience Health Clinic, D'arcy shows Asta a cushion reading "Cat Mom," but Asta tells her that she already told her they're not getting a cat. Harry arrives at Asta asks where he's been, that his shift started an hour ago. He complains that it's General McCallister's fault for making him work late. Just then, Joseph arrives, saying he's looking for Harry. Ellen inserts herself, telling him she's the one he's looking for, that she's broken six laws since this morning. Harry asks what he's doing there and he tells him he lives there now, that he figured he'd settle in till he figured out what he was up to. He freezes time, telling Harry that he was supposed to leave on the ship they provided, but that he's still there. He asks why and Harry quips that he doesn't like public transportation. He threatens to tell everyone that he's a Grey, but Joseph says that it's against the Galactic Federation's charter, that no alien can reveal themselves or another alien being to a non-alien. Harry gives him the finger and Joseph tells him he will figure out what he's doing there. They trade barbs for a bit and then Joseph threatens Asta by implication. He unfreezes time and shakes Asta's hand, then tells everyone he'll let them get back to work. D'arcy teases Asta about Joseph liking her.

That night, Kate wakes up in the middle of the night. She gasps, seeing an owl staring at her from right outside the window. That morning, she tells Ben that it's not the first time she's seen it and that she's getting new blinds. He protests, saying that having an owl stare at you is good luck. She asks why and he admits he made it up to save money on blinds. Meanwhile, Harry thinks to himself that if he's going to defeat Joseph, he needs to work alone. He therefore got a co-worker to the general he was sick. He arrives at the clinic to find McCallister waiting for him in an examination room. She tells him that he needs to come to work, that he needs to analyze chatter and to take the HR seminar. He tells her he has better than chatter, explaining about Joseph. "That's our mole!" realizes McCallister. Harry explains that he is a Grey hybrid. He tells her that he's been watching Joseph and taking photos. She tells him that they need to find out what the Greys are up to, that she'll assemble a team to grab Joseph. He protests, saying that they'll find out what they are up to. He tells her he'll deal with Joseph himself, that he has a plan. However, in his head, he thinks that he does not have a plan. In Joe's Diner, Sahar meets up with Max. She tells him that she was at the comic book store and that the conspiracy kids there think that the Alien Tracker was murdered. Max tells her that those kids don't know what they're talking about, that she's being paranoid. She, however, suggests that he spend time with them, make some new friends. He asks if she doesn't want to be his friend anymore, but she tells him she is his friend and she protected him, that she didn't tell them the Alien Tracker's death was his fault. He asks how this is and she says that he sold him out to Harry and Harry killed him. She tells him they have to go to Harry's cabin and sniff around. At The 59, Sheriff Mike meets with Deputy Liv. He asks her what the emergency is and she says she has to tell him something, but that she wants to be careful in case they're being watched. She takes him to a secluded area where loud music is playing. She then has a shouted conversation in which she tells him that the duffel bag belongs to the Alien Tracker's son, though with the noise of the music, he can barely understand what he's saying. She tells him that she found the name of the son's therapist, who was murdered the night before. He agrees that they have to get the van. At Joe's Diner, Asta tells D'arcy and Kayla that she can't ask Joseph out, that she isn't ready to date. D'arcy tells her she's more than ready. Harry arrives and they continue their conversation, Harry asking if it's girl talk. Asta explains that D'arcy and Kayla want her to go on a date with Joseph. He immediately protests, saying that men ask women out. Kayla asks if he's ever even been on a date and D'arcy says that he has and he kisses like a goat. Harry thinks to himself that Asta could get information from Joseph, saying that he changed his mind. Asta agrees that Joseph is kind of cute.
