In 2021, the channel aired live event coverage during the Olympics for the first (and ultimately, only) time. On July 1, 2022, NBCUniversal announced that Olympic Channel would be shut down on September 30, 2022, with plans to move its programming to other outlets to be determined.

Aug 9, 2022 · Paul, the NBC-owned Olympic Channel, which has been a showcase for the network’s exclusive coverage of the Winter and Summer games, is ceasing operations on September 30. In a statement released last month, NBC stated that it would provide Olympic content on other platforms this fall.
