Each area of specialization for our LL.M. degrees grows out of a center of excellence at Georgetown. Most focus on areas of law in which Georgetown is ranked in the top ten law schools in the nation. Georgetown Law’s LL.M. programs are open to both foreign and U.S.-educated lawyers.

Imagine earning your Juris Doctor (J.D.) a short walk from the U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court and the countless global firms, think tanks and NGOs that call Washington home. At Georgetown Law, your study of the law will include seeing it in action at the nation’s highest levels.
Georgetown’s Tax LL.M. program is open to students who hold a U.S. juris doctor degree, as well as to students who earned their primary law degree abroad. Students may pursue the Tax LL.M. degree on-campus or online, on a full-time or a part-time basis.
In 2019, the university purchased $70 million of a building at 500 First St. NW to add to the Georgetown University Law Center. Opening in 2020, the 130,000-square-foot edifice will provide classrooms and offices for researchers in health, technology, law and other fields.
