Desmond John Morris FLS hon. caus. (born 24 January 1928) is an English zoologist, ethologist and surrealist painter, as well as a popular author in human sociobiology. He is known for his 1967 book The Naked Ape, and for his television programmes such as Zoo Time.
The Naked Ape: A Zoologist's Study of the Human Animal is a 1967 book by English zoologist and ethologist Desmond Morris that looks at humans as a species and compares them to other animals. The Human Zoo, a follow-up book by Morris that examined the behaviour of people in cities, was published in 1969.
Desmond Morris is best known as the author of 60 scientific books, but in a completely different sphere he has also been an active surrealist for 70 years, during which time he has produced more than 2500 paintings.

BIOGRAPHY. Born in the village of Purton, near Swindon, Wiltshire, England on January 24th, the son of Harry Morris (an author of children's fiction) and Marjorie Morris (nee Hunt). Moves to Swindon, which remains his home until 1951. During this period he develops a strong interest both in writing and natural history.
