The Lindenhof (lit.: courtyard of the lime) is a moraine hill and a public square in the historic center of Zürich, Switzerland. It is the site of the Roman and Carolingian era Kaiserpfalz around which the city has historically grown.
Climbing up the short hill overlooking Zurich’s Limmat River is a must-do when exploring the Altstadt or Old Town. It is a perfect culmination to a couple of hours wandering around and up narrow Medieval streets. This small hill, a glacial moraine, is possibly the site of the original human settlement in the area.
