Nov 9, 2008 · Sometimes when I’m with her and a German speaking child I have to say things in both… like I’ll speak to a friend in German and to her in English. She won’t accept it if I speak to her in German. It’s funny, she often says, a mother doesn’t really speak German. Even though she knows that I do, I think she just thinks it’s ridiculous.
