Closed. 28 December 1879 (1st) Location. The Tay Bridge ( Scottish Gaelic: Drochaid-rèile na Tatha) carries rail traffic across the Firth of Tay in Scotland between Dundee and the suburb of Wormit in Fife. Its span is 2.75 miles (4.43 kilometres). It is the second bridge to occupy the site.
Wormit is a small town in the north east of Fife. Wormit claims to be the first village in Scotland to be lit by electricity. The town lies on the south side of the River Tay opposite Dundee, south west of Newport-on-Tay.

Wormit and Balmerino Circuits. These circular walks make use of the Fife Coastal Path along the south side of the Tay estuary. Although nominally a coastal path, the walk is more of a woodland walk with some sections of open farmland. However, there are views across the Tay from the walks.
