[BRIS-tul] is a town in Lincoln County, incorporated on June 21, 1765 from a tract known as Walpole, Harrington and Pemaquid. It was named for England’s maritime city of Bristol. From 1815 to 1847 it ceded land to Nobleboro, Bremen and Damariscotta.
The Pemaquid Point Light is a historic U.S. lighthouse located in Bristol, Lincoln County, Maine, at the tip of the Pemaquid Neck. [2] [3] History[edit] The lighthouse was commissioned in 1827 by President John Quincy Adams and built that year.
