Petnjica (Montenegrin: Петњица) is a town in Montenegro in the northern region, and the center of Petnjica Municipality. Petnjica regained its municipality status on May 28, 2013, which it previously had from 1945 to 1957, when it was merged with the Berane Municipality.

Šavnik is located at the confluence of three rivers - Bukovica, Bijela and Šavnik, at an altitude of 840 meters. The municipality is located in north-western region of Montenegro in the Drobnjaci region, named after the local clan of Drobnjaci. Population of Šavnik and entire municipality is since in a slow but steady decline.
