The ten cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina were created by the Law on Federal Units (Cantons), enacted by the Constituent Assembly of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina on 12 June 1996. Of these, five have Bosniak and three Croat majorities, while two cantons are mixed.
West Herzegovina is the western part, west of the Neretva river, and is today administratively part of the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton and West Herzegovina Canton, predominantly inhabited by ethnic Croats, located in the Federation of B&H entity.
This may have to be the most photographed attraction in Mostar, possibly in Bosnia / Herzegovina. The bridge, also known as Stari Most, is a reconstruction of an original 16th-century Ottoman bridge in the old part of Mostar, which spans across the Neretva River and connects the two parts of the old city.
