Konak is a municipality and district of İzmir Province, Turkey. Its area is 24 km 2, and its population is 332,277 (2022). It is the most densely populated of the thirty districts of İzmir, and has historically acted as the administrative and economic core of the city.
Konak square is one of most important squares of the city of Izmir, situated close to the sea and Kemeralti market. In the surrounding area you can find a lot of cafes, restaurants and shops. On the square you can admire Saat Kulesi (the really picturesque Clock Tower) and a very nice small mosque.

It’s the site of the late Ottoman Konak Clock Tower and the lovely Yalı Mosque, built in 1755, which is covered in Kütahya tiles. Jutting into the sea to the north is the 1890 Konak Pier, which was designed by Gustave Eiffel and was recently converted into a shopping mall.
