St Asaph (/ ˈ æ s ə f /; Welsh: Llanelwy [ɬanˈɛlʊɨ̯] "church on the Elwy") is a city and community on the River Elwy in Denbighshire, Wales. In the 2011 Census it had a population of 3,355, [4] making it the second-smallest city in the United Kingdom in terms of population and urban area .
St. Asaph, cathedral village, Denbighshire (Sir Ddinbych) county, historic county of Flintshire (Sir Fflint), northern Wales. It stands between the Rivers Clwyd and Elwy, from which its Welsh name derives. Asaph, the Celtic ecclesiastic to whom the cathedral is dedicated, was bishop there in the 6th century.
