Stillwater is a city in Washington County, Minnesota. It is on the St. Croix River directly across from the state of Wisconsin. The population was 19,394 at the 2020 census. It is the county seat. Stillwater is part of the Twin Cities Metro Area.
Long recognized as the Birthplace of Minnesota, Stillwater’s history runs deep. As a river town of humble beginnings, and only 600 inhabitants, the surrounding white pine forests fueled a lumber boom that shaped the city we see today.
