Called "the village in the sky of Provence" (le village dans le ciel de Provence), Tourtour overlooks a large part of Provence from the town of Fréjus along the Mediterranean coast in the east to the Montagne Sainte-Victoire, a favorite subject of the painter Paul Cézanne, in the west.
Tourtour is about 50 kilometres inland from the coast in Provence, west of Frejus and north-west from Draguignan. The town is also at the north of the Cotes de Provence region, a wine growing region that stretches south-east to the coast from Tourtour.

True to its nickname of “village in the sky of Provence”, Tourtour perches at 635 metres above sea level on the Beau Soleil, or Beautiful Sun, as its hill is called. From the village, you have impressive views over the Moyen Var all the way to the Sainte Baume Massif and the Sainte-Victoire mountain near Aix-en-Provence .
Tourtour is a picturesque little village in the central Var, northwest of Dragignan and southeast of the Lac de Ste Croix. It's a compact village of Medieval houses, with a long, shady central square, two old chateaux and other ancient sights, and welcoming cafés, restaurants and shops.
