Oto and Pawnee Indians were early inhabitants in the area. Settlers were drawn in the 1850s by the salt flats.

- Take in a Game at Memorial Stadium. Nebraskans are fanatical about their sports teams, and the Cornhuskers are no exception to this rule. If the team is playing when you are in town (and you can get tickets), a visit to the stadium during a home game is a fun thing to do.
