Testimony began Monday in the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, who was seen in a disturbing video kneeling on George Floyd's neck for more than nine minutes during a fatal May 2020 arrest. Floyd's death in police custody drew outrage and a worldwide reckoning on police reform and racial justice.
Chauvin has pleaded not guilty. He is charged with second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. The trial is expected to last two to four weeks.
