These disciplinary concepts are defined collaboratively when experts from fields come together to name what they know, and—like disciplinary knowledge—these concepts are ever-changing.
While some researchers focus on the application of threshold concepts in their individual disciplines, others are adding new branches to the theoretical framework of threshold concepts.
