Famous for his more than decade-long portrayal of Detective P.J. Hasham on the popular Australian series Blue Heelers, Sacks also notably played Mario Condello on Underbelly and Derek Channing on Wentworth. Between 1997 and 2001, he won five consecutive Logie Awards for his work on Blue Heelers.
He began his acting career in the late 1970s, appearing in episodes of The Love Boat and The Restless Years.
He directed three episodes of Blue Heelers and six episodes of the Seven Network medical drama All Saints.
Blue Heelers fans loved the long-unrequited love that existed between Sacks' character and actress Lisa McCune's Constable Maggie Doyle character.
