May is a 2002 American psychological horror film written and directed by Lucky McKee [3] [4] in his directorial debut. Starring Angela Bettis, Jeremy Sisto, Anna Faris, and James Duval, the film follows a lonely young woman (Bettis) traumatized by a difficult childhood, and her increasingly desperate attempts to connect with the people around her.
Synopsis. May (Angela Bettis) is an awkward, lonely young woman who had a troubled childhood due to her "lazy eye" which caused her to feel abnormal and out of place. As a little girl, May's mother takes her to an eye doctor, who suggests that May wear an eye patch to correct her vision.

Jun 6, 2003 · "May" is a horror film and something more and deeper, something disturbing and oddly moving. It begins as the story of a strange young woman, it goes for laughs and gets them, it functions as a black comedy, but then it glides past the comedy and slides slowly down into a portrait of madness and sadness.
This movie is a very different kind of horror. I don't find it creepy, but for sure it is twisted and a little gory. If you want to watch something different, it is very recommended. But if you want a movie with really horror scenes and to feel scared, this is not the best movie for you.

Dec 31, 2015 · May has appeared on many "Best of" lists for 21st Century horror, and while it’s never hit that level for me, it deserves to be seen. Come for Bettis’s terrific acting, and stay for a bloody finale whose queasy poignancy finally lives up to her skilled, ambiguous performance.
