May 13, 2021 · The Midway Atoll is located approximately 4,100 km east of Tokyo; 5,200 km west of San Francisco; 2,100 km northwest of Honolulu and 259 km east of the International Date Line. It is geographically positioned in the northwestern portion of the Hawaiian archipelago.
Midway Atoll comprises three coral islands and 580,000 acres of submerged reef and ocean at the far northern end of the Hawaiian archipelago. From left to right, the islands are Sand Island, tiny Spit Island and Eastern Island. They total about 1,549 acres.
