Rocky V is a 1990 American sports drama film directed by John G. Avildsen and written by and starring Sylvester Stallone. It is the sequel to Rocky IV (1985) and the fifth installment in the Rocky film series. [3] It also stars Talia Shire, Burt Young, Sage Stallone in his film debut, Tommy Morrison, and Burgess Meredith.
Rocky V. Sylvester Stallone originally planned to make the effects of Rocky's brain damage much more visible and painful to see, but altered these plans after watching a few days of footage because the sight of Rocky like that was "like seeing your favorite dog with dysplasia."
To fill the void in his life, Rocky begins training others to box, taking an enthusiastic, hungry young boxer, Tommy "The Machine" Gunn (Tommy Morrison), under his wing. Rocky perceptibly sees, in Tommy, a younger version of himself; under-privileged, but avid for glory, and willing to take any steps to achieve it.
