It's a decent loot system for laid-back guilds, but nothing would ever replace a good loot council where the power is equally distributed to the class leaders who make the decision and the master looter/GM has only right to approve it.
Suicide kings is great mostly because it actually penalizes people for not getting loot. The best loot system for you will really depend on how close of a group of friends you guys are.
The game is so easy that 'disincentives new members' should kill off that system by itself. Having 4 more players is more valuable to progression than any quantity of better-arranged loot. (Loot council is also a complete scam in a game this easy.) I'd recommend suicide kings.
