- The Haunt Of Fear #26. EC covers were known for featuring gore and monsters on a monthly basis and the success of the book usually depended on the eye popping visuals.
- Tales From The Crypt #39. Even though the comics were gory and horrific, EC knew full well that their target audience was young children. Tales From The Crypt, though one of several EC horror comics at the time, lived on beyond its 1950s run and has become something of a cultural phenomena that even got a terrifying TV adaptation.
- Tales From The Crypt #30. Horror is often about what the audience sees and the characters don't see, and that can help to ratchet up the tension.
