Our review: Parents say ( 11 ): Kids say ( 10 ): This is a lyrical, quiet movie about a child's faith in miracles. The folkloric tale is spun in an idyllic setting with great respect for the wonders of animals and nature.
9/10. Charming and full of wonder. Captain Ed 24 July 2002. The Secret of Roan Inish is a departure for John Sayles, in that his normal cynicism and mildly jaundiced eye is replaced by the completely credulous child's view, and his film is all the more charming because of it.
