Status. alive. Leo Rockway is a supporting character in the novel The Stand . In the TV miniseries, he is portrayed by Billy L. Sullivan, although onscreen (and in the cast-list) he is referred to as "Joe". The adaptation does not address his backstory or reveal his real name.

Joe played a fairly minor role in The Stand book and 1994 miniseries, but the 2020 show seems to be setting him up for something bigger. Joe's real name is actually Leo Rockway, at least according to Stephen King's novel.
