Open Access Aetna Select ℠. HMO-EPO Plan. Visit any doctor in the nationwide Open Access Aetna Select ℠ network without a referral. Is this the plan for you? Aetna's national network allows you to seek care within the state or outside of Maryland within our network of providers.
Our HMO and Aetna Saver Plans offer Open Access benefits. This means you can receive covered services from a participating network specialist without a required referral from your primary care provider (PCP) or by another participating provider in the network.

Nov 17, 2018 · A health maintenance organization (HMO) gives you access to a network of doctors and hospitals. Your plan requires you to use these network providers. Your HMO plan may also require you to get a referral from a PCP for hospital care and specialist visits.
Open Access or HMO for doctors and select Basic Dental*for dentists for all states except Washington and New York. For Washington and New York plans, select EPO. *If you switched or plan on switching to the Dental PPO option under our HMO plan, select Dental PPO.
Some of the benefits requiring precertification may include, but are not limited to, inpatient hospital, inpatient mental health, inpatient skilled nursing, outpatient surgery, substance abuse (detoxification, inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation).
