Dec 18, 2023 · The "Armor of God" passage is located in Ephesians 6:10-20. Paul explains that our struggle is less a physical one than a spiritual one, against our true enemy, the devil. Let's look at each piece of the full armor of God and how we can put it on.
Lesson 1: Taking Up the Whole Armor of God. Paul tells us to take up the whole armor of God. But what is this armor, and how do we put it on? Is it still relevant for Christians today? Paul, an apostle of God's first-century Church, has a story for us today:

- Belt of Truth. The belt of truth is the first element of the armor of God. In the ancient world, a soldier's belt not only kept his armor in place but, if wide enough, protected his kidneys and other vital organs.
- Breastplate of Righteousness. The breastplate of righteousness guards our heart. A wound to the chest can be fatal. That's why ancient soldiers wore a breastplate covering their heart and lungs.

6. What are we to do? Put on the full armor of God. This word “full” is very important. Imagine a soldier that goes to battle with most of the armor, but not all of it. He will have a weak point that will be exploited by the enemy. His mistake will probably cost him his life. The same is true spiritually.
In verses 14-17, we find five pieces of armor that are given for our defense. 1. Belt of truth (v. 14) 2. Breastplate of righteous (v. 14) 3. Shoes of the gospel of peace (v. 15) 4.
