The Colorado State Capitol building is open to the public from 7:30am – 5:00pm Monday through Friday. The building is closed on weekends and most federal holidays. If we are unable to schedule a tour for you, you are welcome to self-guide throughout the building but note that you will not be able to visit the dome on a self-guided tour.
The Colorado State Capitol welcomes about 300,000 visitors annually, with nearly 70,000 visitors taking tours of our beautiful and historic Statehouse. The Capitol is open to the public from 7:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Jun 16, 2021 · We are pleased to announce that we are again offering free guided tours of the Capitol, beginning June 16, 2021. These tours take about an hour and include a trip to the dome observation area. The dome is a 99-step climb above the 3rd floor and is accessible by stairs only.
The Colorado State Capitol was built on ten acres of land donated by Henry Cordes Brown. Brown and his wife, June, had settled atop a bluff just east of the city and bought the land for $200 through the Homestead Act.
