DAVE SLACK is a bassist and composer who lives in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains outside of Knoxville, TN. He performs regularly with his jazz trio and enjoys playing many other genres including rock, bluegrass, and R&B.
Dave plays electric bass and acoustic bass. He has a great deal of experience playing and recording in various ensembles including orchestral, jazz, rock, country, bluegrass and R&B.
Dave grew up playing rock-n-roll music on the guitar and electric bass. He got interested in the double bass and jazz while attending college. He received a Bachelor of Music(B.M.) and Master of Music(M.M.) degrees from the University of Tennessee while studying jazz and classical music under the direction of Rusty Holloway and Donald Brown .
I've played upright bass and electric bass on a lot of gigs and recordings. I love playing jazz, R&B, rock, and Americana music. I have a bachelors and masters of music degrees in studio music and jazz and bass performance (classical).
David Slack Rusty taught me-a guy with a rock 'n' roll background- how to build a walking bass line. I've used the principles he showed me years ago on hundreds of gigs.
