Douglas Family Preserve. 805-564-5433. The Douglas Family Preserve, formerly “The Wilcox Property,” is a spectacular 70+ acres of open space on beachside bluffs with breathtaking ocean views. It is one of Santa Barbara’s most treasured outdoor spaces.
From the preserve, you can walk down to Cliff Street and then to the beach, which includes an off leash section. There was plenty of parking on the local streets. Read more

To find the Douglas Family Preserve, head west on Cliff Drive from the Santa Barbara Waterfront. You’ll eventually find a long parking lot for the preserve along Cliff Drive next to Arroyo Burro Beach.
Douglas Family Preserve. Learn more about the Douglas Family Preserve Improvement Project. Donated to the City in 1997, this large open-space area sits above Arroyo Burro Beach and contains walking trails and scenic ocean views.
No official parking lot, but lots of street parking in the residential neighborhood surrounding the preserve. There's a water station in the middle, but humans should go to the bathroom before arriving.

Douglas Family Preserve. This beautiful, undeveloped open space has numerous trails and is a hugely popular place for walking dogs because they are allowed off leash which is rare in Santa Barbara. The bluffs at the Douglas Family Preserve offer spectacular ocean and beach views.
You can additionally access Douglas Family Preserve from Arroyo Burro Beach, which has a dedicated parking lot.
