   Esther Houston was born about 1724 in Ireland, the third child and second daughter of John Houston, Jr. and Margaret Cunningham.

   1735 Arrival in Pennsylvania

   In 1735, at about age eleven, Esther arrived in Pennsylvania with her family. Samuel Rutherford Houston (1882, p. 7-8) records the following, copied from a manuscript found among the papers of his father (and Esther's nephew), Rev. Samuel Houston, dated May 1820:
