Falling in Love. This movie is the clearest case I've seen in a long time of the war between movie stars and the scripts they are given. The movie is a love story. The stars are Robert De Niro and Meryl Streep -- arguably the two most distinguished American movie actors under fifty.
While out Christmas shopping she accidentally gets her packages mixed up in a Manhattan bookstore with a handsome young man named Frank (Rober De Niro). Frank is a married architect with two young children who also lives upstate. Months later they take the same train into NYC and bump into each other again.
Commuting to Manhattan on the same train, two married strangers (Robert De Niro, Meryl Streep) meet by accident and have an affair.
