Those cycling to the Observatory must use paved park roads (not the park trails or fire roads) and may park and bike from public spaces around the park. The Observatory has several bike racks.
Jul 20, 2023 · How much walking is involved at Griffith Observatory depends on whether you park at the bottom, hike up, or park at the top. It is difficult to find parking at the top. The hike up to the Griffith Observatory is 2.1 miles from Fern Dell Drive.
There don’t appear to be any designated accessible parking spaces along Ferndell Drive near the trailhead, but there are a couple of designated accessible parking spots near the Firebreak Trail to Griffith Observatory trailhead (marked by a waypoint on the map).

How to Hike Up to Griffith Observatory. Where to Park for the Hike to Griffith Observatory. Navigate to The Trails Restaurant on Fern Dell Drive in Los Angeles. There is free street parking along the street or a lot farther up the road. Park wherever you find a legal space.
Parking is enforced every day of the year, Monday-Friday 12pm—10pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am—10pm. Parking fees increase over peak season/holidays. If there is no show at The Greek Theatre you may park for free in that parking lot and ride the DASH Observatory up the hill for .50.
May 19, 2024 · Parking is available along Fern Dell Drive and Western Canyon Road, which is one continuous road. The easiest place to begin is 0.4 miles up from Los Feliz Boulevard, just past an intersection with Red Oak Drive.
Visitors should use the Brush Canyon Trail from Canyon Drive, two blocks to the east of Beachwood Drive off Franklin, or Griffith Observatory. Canyon has a parking lot, sidewalks, trash cans, and facilities for visitors. Parking is limited and fills up quickly at Griffith Park so using the DASH Observatory shuttle is recommended.
