Römisches Freilichtmuseum Hechingen-Stein (DE) In the first century AD, a Roman Villa Rustica was constructed at Hechingen-Stein. It remained functioning for 200 years. In 1973, traces of the forgotten villa were discovered by the mayor of Stein, Gerd Schollian in the Teufelbach forrest.

The very popular Villa Rustica in Hechingen-Stein is one of the largest open-air museums of its kind in south-west Germany, characterised by partly reconstructed buildings from Roman times. Set in beautiful countryside, the museum is almost worth visiting for its views alone.

Jan 30, 2018 · Beautiful facility! The Roman estate "Villa Rustica" is located on the edge of the Rammerts near Hechingen-Stein. One of the largest Roman manors in southwestern Germany was reconstructed by the local Roman association in close cooperation with the Tübingen archaeologists into an impressive witness to everyday Roman life.
