Mar 14, 2017 · (St. Petersburg, FL – March 2017) – Jay Davis, one of the most prolific quarterbacks in Florida high school football history and son of longtime CCC Head Football Coach John Davis, has been named Head Football Coach and Physical Education Teacher at St. Petersburg Catholic High School.
Davis is our Assistant Athletic Director and head football coach at SPCHS. As a coach and teacher, he likes the feeling of making a difference in somebody else’s life. His favorite memories will always be when students that have graduated come back to tell us how much they enjoyed their experience at SPCHS.
Davis is in his first season (2016) as the quarterbacks coach with the QU football program. He joined the Hawks in March, just prior to the start of spring practice. Davis came to the Hawks after a six-year stint as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Truman State.
He was assistant head coach, defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator and coached defensive backs during his stay in Dubuque. Davis helped guide the Spartans to their first winning season in 19 years in 2006, followed by a 7-3 mark in 2007.
Spent three seasons as quarterback coach at Division I Grambling State (La.) University. Coached Greg Dillion, who was all-SWAC, SWAC Newcomer of the Year and MVP of the Bayou Classic and SWAC Championship game in 2007. A 2005 graduate and letterwinner at North Carolina State University.
