Jul 7, 1972 · LAKEWOOD, Colo. July 6 (AP)—Brandon de Wilde, the former child actor, died this evening as a result of injuries suffered earlier in a traffic acci dent in this Denver suburb. He was 30 years old.

He was the first child actor to win the Donaldson Award, and went on to repeat his role in the film version, directed by Fred Zinnemann in 1952.
