I believe (but am not 100% certain) that the voice used for the 1984 launch was NOT Macintalk. It was a predecessor called MacTalk. It's available at Macintosh Garden with instructions on how to use it. Look for the "Apple BS Disk I" and MacWrite Book Disk for working with "BS Disks"
Jun 4, 2022 · Download that image and use it to start up Mini vMac, then follow the instructions in the Read Me file. The apps5.dsk you mention contains Macintalk 3, which won't run on Mini vMac at all. Macintalk 2 needs System 7 (that's what the above demo image has installed.)
