The 3D One-Leg Hopper was built for experiments on active balance and dynamics in legged locomotion. The machine has a leg that changes length, a body that carries sensors and interface electronics, and an actuated 2-axis hip. The hip is powered by hydraulics and the leg by compressed air.
This is the simulation for Raibert's one legged hopper in his paper:Hopping in Legged systems-modeling and simulation for the two dimensional one-legged case.
Aug 17, 2022 · But the underpinnings of those one-legged hopping machines, focusing on the dynamics, I think really got Boston Dynamics to where it is today, where they’re making robots that are practical and ...
Experiments with a physical 3D one-legged hopping machine showed that this control scheme, while simple to implement, is powerful enough to permit hopping in place, running at a desired rate, and travel along a simple path.

Jun 29, 2017 · The video below is a compilation of Salto-1P’s “little acts of self-destruction”: The software that Salto-1P is running to make all of this work is an adaptation of Marc Raibert’s hopping controller from 1984.
