    Brazilian actor and director who is best known for his appearances in the 1997 film Four Days in September and the 2002 film City of God. He is also known for having won the Best Actor award at the Cine Ceara in 2003 for his role in Mango Yellow.

    He made his feature film debut in 1997 when he starred in Four Days in September. He earned further attention in 2000 with his role in O Auto da Compadecida and then gained international attention with his role in the Academy Award nominated film City of God.

    He is known for having won multiple Best Actor awards at the Grande Premio do Cinema Brasileiro for his roles in Midnight and O Auto da Compadecida.

    He was born and raised in Sao Paulo, Brazil and shared a photo of his parents through Instagram in October of 2018.
