    • The National Weather Service produces some of the models used by the National Hurricane Center. These models are run by NOAA/NWS National Centers for Environmental Prediction (NCEP) Central Operations (NCO).     What does NHC do if a cyclone threatens land?

    • If there’s a chance the cyclone will threaten land, NHC sends U.S. Air Force Reserve and NOAA Hurricane Hunter aircraft to fly through the storm to take detailed observations. NHC’s Hurricane Specialists also analyze a variety of computer models to help forecast tropical cyclones.
