ORAL ROBERTS UNIVERSITY. An evangelist, Oral Roberts founded Oral Roberts University (ORU) in 1962 in Tulsa. Born Granville Oral Roberts in Pontotoc County, Oklahoma, in 1918, he studied at Bible colleges and became a minister.
